Welcome to The Hormone Method ("the App," "we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use The Hormone Method mobile application.
Please read this policy carefully. By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
The Hormone Method requires an account to use the App, created with your email address and a password.
How your password is protected: Your password is never stored in plain text. It is hashed using industry-standard encryption before it touches our database, meaning even our own team cannot view it. If you forget your password, we can only help you reset it — we cannot look it up or tell it to you.
Session handling: When you log in, we issue a secure session token (not your password) to keep you logged in on your device. This token is stored securely and expires automatically after a period of inactivity.

If you choose to connect the App to Apple Health, sleep data you've granted access to may be read from Apple Health to pre-fill your sleep log. This connection is entirely optional, requires your explicit permission through iOS, and can be revoked at any time in your device's Settings app. We do not write any data back to Apple Health.

We do not use your health data for advertising purposes. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
The Hormone Method collects health-related information including menstrual cycle data, hormonal symptoms, mood, sleep quality, energy levels, and wellness practices. This information is sensitive, and we treat it with the highest level of care.
Important: The Hormone Method is a consumer wellness application and is not a covered entity or business associate as defined under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The health information you enter into this App is not protected by HIPAA.
However, we voluntarily apply privacy principles consistent with HIPAA's spirit, including collecting only necessary health data, not disclosing it without your consent, implementing technical safeguards, and giving you control over your data.
We strongly encourage you not to enter highly sensitive medical information (such as prescription medication details or diagnoses from healthcare providers) into the App.
We work with a small number of trusted providers to operate the App. These providers only access your data to perform services on our behalf and are contractually prohibited from using it for other purposes:
A note on reminder notifications: Daily reminders are scheduled locally on your own device using Apple's built-in notification system. No third-party notification service is used, and no data about your reminders or app usage is sent to an outside notification provider.
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of The Hormone Method, our users, or the public.
If The Hormone Method is acquired, merged, or its assets are transferred, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or prominent notice in the App before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We may share your information for any other purpose with your explicit consent.
Your account information and health tracking data are stored on secure servers located in the United States (Oregon), not only on your device. This is what allows you to see your patterns and progress over time, avoid losing data if you switch phones, and lets your AI coach maintain conversation context. Your AI coach conversation history follows this same policy — it is retained for as long as your account is active and deleted along with the rest of your account data (see Section 6.5).
What stays local to your device only: Biometric data used to unlock the App (such as Face ID) is handled entirely by iOS and never sent to our servers. Scheduled reminder notifications also live entirely on your device.
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If we become aware of a security incident affecting your personal data, we will notify affected users within 72 hours of confirming the breach, describe what data was affected, and outline steps you can take to protect yourself.

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where required by law to retain it longer.
You may access and update your profile information at any time through the App's Settings, and export a full copy of your data at any time.
You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by using the "Delete Account" option in Settings, or by emailing hellohormonemethod@gmail.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
You may turn off reminder notifications at any time in the App's Settings or your device's notification settings.
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of it, opt out of its sale (we do not sell personal information), and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Contact hellohormonemethod@gmail.com to exercise these rights.
If you are located in the EU, EEA, or UK, you have rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. Health data is treated as "special category data" under GDPR Article 9, requiring explicit consent, which is why onboarding specifically asks you to acknowledge you are providing health-related information.

The Hormone Method is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact hellohormonemethod@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.
The App may contain links to third-party websites or resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy in the App and, where appropriate, via email. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of a revised policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
